Learning Method: Revise and Memorize Effectively

The teachers and tutors are unanimous. To better memorize their lessons, students must reread their lessons the same evening. However, students still do not know how to proceed with effective proofreading that offers them the possibility of memorizing the content more quickly and durably. They are always looking for the most relevant learning methods and techniques.

Most often, students find it difficult to reread their lessons in the evening. They sometimes cannot concentrate and find themselves tired, especially if they spend hours repeating their lessons without remembering anything. They do not always know how to proceed to proofread their courses in an effective and relevant way. It is very common for them to be bored with learning and exercises, and they do not find it of much interest. This is often the case for traditional courses which are based mainly or only on lectures (presentation with a teacher who gives lectures).

If you have to face this kind of course and if you have chosen a traditional adult training without educating yourself about the teaching methods, we give you some keys in this article to get you out despite the situation.

Because of a single teaching method which turns out to be the least effective, it is all the more important and urgent to apply memorization methods which will be useful anyway for any other situation in life. The goal is to encourage the brain to retain information for the longest time in view of its value and the fact that it deserves to be learned and stored in long-term memory.

Here are 4 methods to make learning and reviewing easier :

1.Discuss information with others

By discussing the information learned with others, we signal its importance to the brain. We can even conduct a question-and-answer session to better understand the subject in all its aspects.

2.Insert memory cards

The memory cards or flash cards are cards on which there was information on the front and other data associated with it on the back. It is very common to put a question on one side and the answer on the other or even a theorem and its formula, etc. Memory cards accelerate the learning process and set up a very effective self-assessment system.

In addition, the fact of creating its cards is positive to retain information.

3. Build on mental imagery and stories

The technique of mental imagery is based on an association of an expression or a term with an image to better retain it. It is even possible to put together a story from the words and expressions to learn.

Such a method can be used in science, geography, history, or even to learn the multiplication tables by inventing for example humorous scenes. The more unusual or strange the context or associations, the more easily the brain will retain information.

4. Use examples, tables, and diagrams

It is in the interest of all students to use their own terms to memorize their course because it will be easier for their brain to remember them. But before using your own expressions, you must first understand the information and illustrate it using pictograms, tables, diagrams or even examples.

Some teachers try to help their students by presenting their lessons in such a way as to make it easier to take notes, in particular with the sketchnote. It is a relevant tool for taking notes, which makes the assimilation of a concept or subject very easy.

Teachers also occasionally use lapbooks, which are customizable booklets, taking up elements relating to a concept studied to present them in the form of drawings, diagrams, stories, images, collages, among others. The idea is to offer students synthetic information organized through post-it notes, pockets, cards, pull-tabs, etc. Many colors are used to brighten up the content and make it more attractive while marking the most important elements.
